Earn income by being part of a Queensland growth industry

South-east Queensland’s hardwood plantation industry is growing rapidly.

Forestry Plantations Queensland (FPQ) is a leader in hardwood (native eucalypt) plantation establishment and management. Our hardwood estate is expanding at some 1500 ha each year. Our plantations are planted mainly on private lands accessed through land rental agreements.

To support our growing hardwood plantations, we are seeking new relationships with landholders wishing to rent their land for plantation establishment. If you are a private landowner or investor, we would like your involvement to grow native hardwood plantations for sawlog production.

We will pay you a quarterly rent in advance in return for access to your land.

25 years is required to produce a hardwood sawlog crop and we will establish an agreement with you (a profit-a-prendre agreement) that legally separates our tree crop from your land.

What type of land do we need?

We need land that:

Lies within south-east Queensland. This is roughly the area between Miriamvale in the north, south Burnett in the west and the New South Wales border
Is already cleared
Has suitable soils, slopes and positive drainage
Has greater than 30 plantable hectares (74 acres)
Can be maintained stock free during the initial establishment phase (up to 2 years).

Investment opportunities

Opportunities may also exist for investors or landowners to invest in hardwood plantation development for a share of the timber resource. These options can be discussed with our plantation development officer.
