Forestry Plantations Queensland

A new plantation forestry business, the largest in Queensland, came into being when Forestry Plantations Queensland began trading in May 2006.

Forestry Plantations Queensland took over the former DPI Forestry as manager of the Queensland Government’s 199,000 hectare softwood and hardwood forest plantations.

Responsible ministers

Queensland Treasurer and Minister for Employment & Economic Development, the Hon. Andrew Fraser MP and Minister for Primary Industries, Fisheries and Rural & Regional Queensland, the Hon. Tim Mulherin MP are the responsible Queensland Government ministers for Forestry Plantations Queensland.

Industry benefits

Reforms to commercial forestry in Queensland have ensured the State’s forest plantations continue to be managed efficiently, competitively and sustainably.

Forestry Plantations Queensland has been able to more fully maximise returns from Queensland’s plantation forest assets and provide greater security for Queensland's timber industry.
